16 reasons why you aren't flexible & How to gain flexibility

  1. You lead a sedentary life - You have to start some sort of routine to keep yourself mentally sane. Make time.

  2. Sleeping cycle : If you do not have a regular, systematic sleeping cycle every single day, the adverse effect of it will be reflected in your muscles.

  3. Food habits : Never ever ever offer food to those who’s seated inside you if you do not resonate with what you feel inside you. Know what you need to feed to keep yourself mentally satisfied.

  4. Eating time : 2 / 3 meals a day at the same DESIGNATED TIME is a must along with 2 liters of water every single day for the muscles to not experience fatigue in the long run.

  5. Rejuvenation : Never ever take a bath in boiling water. Never !!!. Warm water baths work wonders for muscles in the long run.

  6. Fiber & carbs : Fibers & carbs must be a regular part of your diet every single day. No exceptions.

  7. Mental : Unresolved conflicts & childhood memories are forever stored as muscle memory.Seek help, make peace with it & grow ahead.

  8. Work : Unwanted & unrelated work anxiety causes muscles & nerves to shrink, lose vigor and valor. Know where to draw the line.

  9. Swim : Swimming works wonders in a way asana practice never does. Go for a swim at least once in 2 weeks for the ultimate muscle rejuvenation.

  10. Sauna/Steam : Hot steam lets you rid your body of the toxins naturally, cleans the respiratory system and loosen the muscles. Try out 25 - 40 minutes of sauna at least once a month.

  11. Inconsistency : For a routine to become a habit it takes at least a year & for it to become a lifestyle take 3. Inconsistency is the key to consistency. Accept it.

  12. Long hours : Long hours of sitting for years or may be for a decade can't be undone by 3-10 months of yoga practice. Even God can't help you, But you can help yourself.

  13. Fruits and vegetables : These have to be an integral part of your diet to rest your stomach. I never fast, Instead my breakfast is fruits and vegetables 6 days a week.

  14. Ragi & rice : These are a must if you’re south Indian. Never ever think you can love without this. For the geographical location you’re in. These are a must.

  15. Acceptance : You have to accept the current state you’re in physically in but mentally be ready to push & get better by time. Acceptance helps in ascension.

  16. Greatness : Delete “I am unfit & stiff ” from your mind. You may not be gifted with flexibility. But you have a lot of other resources at your disposal. Use them to get this.
